What’s a head spa? 

A “Head Spa” is a scalp treatment & self care ritual. It is great for addressing any kind of scalp concerns you may be experiencing whether that is oiliness, dandruff, hair loss, or so forth while promoting relaxation through head massage. 

 Head spas have been popular in Japan and Korea for centuries but just recently picked up popularity in the US. 

 I cannot perform services on customers with extensions, braids, or sew-ins as these obstruct access to the scalp.

I will have a robe for you to put on over your clothing so this is more of a “what not to wear” answer:

Please refrain from wearing high necked sweaters, bulky sweatshirts or turtlenecks as it will inhibit my access to your neck/get wet. 

But please! Get cozy! Shoes are optional at Moondog, or BYOS (bring your own slippers)

All of our ingredients are safe for any kind of treated hair! However, if you had recently done any kind of chemical services within a week before your Head Spa appointment, there is a chance that the color/keratin may lift during our detoxing process so I recommend customers to wait at least a week after any kind of hair treatment before receiving a Head Spa. 
I also recommend waiting at least a week after having a Head spa before doing any kind of chemical services. You wouldn’t want to apply chemicals to a freshly cleaned scalp! 

YES! If you don’t necessarily have scalp issues and you still want a head spa experience with ultimate chill book “The Lebowski”. Head Spas not promote the health of your scalp and hair, but it also helps relieve stress from headaches, migraine, and more. It brings immediate relaxation, deeper and long-term benefits like natural sleep-enhancing therapy. 

Please avoid washing your hair 48 hours before your Head Spa. Washing your hair right before can strip away oils and reduce the effectiveness of your head spa, plus it allows me to get a clearer view of your scalps natural state. 

As of March 2026 I am no longer offering Gift Cards. All Gift Cards already purchased will be honored of course. 

Not so much a question, but I get it. I am happy to offer FREE 2 hour parking to my clients across the street from the herald building- be sure to only park in spots marked VISITOR along the outside edge. The Herald Building is home to over 100 businesses so the lot is not always available.  Please give yourself extra time to find street parking if needed.  

Moondog was designed for folks craving a more 1+1l and neurodivergent friendly salon experience. All New Client Haircuts are reserved for up to 2 hours, so we have the room to really connect and not feel rushed into your new look. 

You are invited to advocate for your needs during your time. For example I offer add ons at booking like silent or masked appointments. Changing the music is easy and can make a difference so please don't hesitate to ask, I won't make it weird I promise. 

Please arrive with your hair down (curly/wavy clients) , or loosely pinned up and with a light layer of your usual products. My haircuts are designed to work with natural texture and fall and I will not be able to asses your hair properly if you show up in a tight slicked bun for instance. 

Avoid wearing large sweaters, turtlenecks or hoodies you can't take off as well as jewelry you don't feel comfortable removing. Also avoid wearing strong perfumes as I am sensitive. 

Moondog is a small private studio. That being said, no guests please. 

If a situation arises or you need accommodation that requires another person to be with you, please reach out via email ASAP. Children cannot be left unattended therefore are also included in the no guest policy. 

I always want you to love your new look, but for any reason you have questions or would like an adjustment please reach out via email or text within 14 days of your appointment and I will be happy to accommodate  you. Keep in mind complimentary tweaks do not include change of mind or direction and a separate paid service will need to be booked. 

Heck yeah! If you would like to purchase or re purchase any products used in studio you may email for a product pick up appointment or use the product page to order directly from the company. Any purchases made through my links still support me through commission. 

I am now offering 30 and 60 min "scalp ritual" add ons to most haircut appointments for those craving a deeper experience or just want to treat themselves. At booking after decided what kind of haircut you need you will be prompted to select any add ons you choose.
